FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State defeated Dominican (CA) 10-8 on Sunday afternoon as they claimed the 2026 Mountain East Conference Women’s Tournament Championship.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 5-1 one lead after the first quarter. With two of the five goals coming from Delaney Burrows. In the second, Dominican would make a push outscoring Frostburg State 4-2 in the quarter as they trailed by two goals, 7-5.
In the third, Dominican again would outscore the Bobcats, 3-2, and trailed by just one, 9-8.
In the fourth, Frostburg State would score the only goal at the 3:30 minute mark as Maddie Russell scored on an assist by Delaney Burrows as the Bobcats held on to claim the championship victory, 10-8.
Frostburg State had 25 shots in the contest while Dominican finished with 23. The Bobcats had 17 ground balls while the Penguins had 10. Dominican did win the draw controls 15-5.
Delaney Burrows had an outstanding game for the Bobcats finishing with four goals on 10 shots and an assist, while causing one turnover. Avery O’Hara had two goals and an assist.
Neila Haney had one goal, three assists, and two draw controls.
Goalie, Liz Amos had 10 saves in the win.
Morgan Newkirk led Dominican with three goals while Alayna Cipolla had two goals and two assists. Katherine Chavez had three saves at goalie for the Penguins while allowing nine goals.
