Frostburg State Sweeps Weekly Women’s Lacrosse Honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has selected the winners of this week’s MEC Player of the Week awards for women’s lacrosse. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Frostburg State’s Neila Haney has been named the MEC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week while fellow Bobcat Liz Amos has been named the MEC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Haney, a senior from Lino Lakes, Minnesota, led the Bobcats offense in their 2-0 week, totaling 16 points on 11 goals and 5 assists. In the 21-7 win over Wheeling, she netted six goals to go with three assists while also grabbing four draw controls. She followed with five goals and two assists in a 16-3 win over Point Park, adding a pair of draw controls and three groundballs. 
 
Amos, a sophomore from Fairmont, West Virginia, recorded a pair of wins in net for FSU in the week, allowing just 8 total goals and picking up 6 groundballs across the two games. She made five saves in 36 minutes during the team's 21-7 victory over Wheeling, then had 12 saves with just 3 goals allowed against Point Park, playing the full 60 minutes.
