BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference had seven players earn D2CCA Atlantic Region Baseball teams, announced Monday afternoon.
Wheeling’s Edward Mateo, who was the 2026 MEC Player of the Year, earn first team honors as a shortstop. Mateo, a senior from Miami, Florida, helped the Cardinals to the MEC North Division Title. He led the league in hitting with a .448 average with 82 hits, 40 RBIs, and seven home runs. He also led the MEC in on base percentage, runs scored, triples, walks, and stolen bases.
Also landing on first team was Wheeling’s Sebastian Khan, who was the 2026 MEC Pitcher of the Year. Khan, a senior from Brampton, Ontario, helped the Cardinals to the MEC North Division Title. He went 7-2 on the season with 12 starts. He allowed 51 hits with 76 strike outs on the season, which was 3
rd in the league, and had a 3.03 ERA.
Frostburg State's Jackson Schalick earned first team honors, a junior outfielder from Elmer, New Jersey, helped the Bobcats to a share of the MEC North Divison Title and was an MEC first teamer. Schalick, had a .380 batting average this season, with 70 RBIs, 73 hits, and 10 home runs.
Earning second team honors where, Concord’s Matt DiSanti and Kaden Varela-Payne Fairmont State’s Reilly Bubb, and Glenville State’s Zach Dellerman.
DiSanti, a second baseman, was an MEC first teamer, had a .344 batting average which was 9
th in the league. He had 53 hits, with 33 RBIs, .440 on base percentage. He also helped Concord win the MEC South Division Title.
Varela-Payne, a pitcher from Raleigh, North Carolina, was an MEC first teamer finished his first season in the Maroon and Gray with an 8-4 record, a 4.11 ERA and 106 strikeouts in 87.2 innings. He led the Atlantic Region in strikeouts with 106 as he became the first Concord pitcher to cross over the century mark for strikeouts and went 8-4 on the mound this season.
Bubb, a utility player, was an MEC first teamer, had a .327 batting average, with 34 RBIs, five home runs, and 23 stolen bases.
Dellerman, a pitcher, was an MEC first teamer, went 10-3 this season on the mound. He had a 3.34 ERA with 79 strike outs, and two saves. He also led the league in innings pitched with 89.0 while also leading the MEC in strike outs looking with 32.
