UC Men Capture 2026 Outdoor Track & Field Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – They University of Charleston won its sixth consecutive Mountain East Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Tuesday at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park.
 
The Golden Eagles finished with 223 points, followed by Point Park coming in 2nd with 93 points. In 3rd place with 90.5 points are the Hilltoppers of West Liberty while Glenville State tallied 89 points as they finished in 4th place and Frostburg State rounded out the top five as they finished 5th with 75 points.
 
The MEC also handed out five individual awards. The 2026 Most Valuable Performer was Point Park’s Akeem Mustapha, who also collected the Track Athlete of the Year honor, which was voted on by the league’s coaches. The MEC Men’s Freshman of the Year went to Charleston’s Frank Hicks while fellow Golden Eagle Jullian Matthews was named the MEC Men’s Field Athlete of the Year. UC’s head coach Nick Bias was named the MEC Men’s Coach of the Year, as voted on by the league’s coaches.
 
The MEC determines all-conference recognition based on the top three finishers in every event, with the champion taking All-MEC first team, the runner-up earning second team honors, and the third-place finisher gets named honorable mention.
