BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s MEC Softball Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Fairmont State’s Abbie Keilhoz has been named the MEC Softball Player of the week while Davis & Elkins’ Sammie Jarvis has been named the MEC Softball Pitchers of the Week.
Keilhoz, a senior from Miamisburg, Ohio, helped the Falcons go 4-0 on the week with wins over Salem and Point Park. She had a .500 batting average with five hits and 10 RBIs. She also had two homeruns, with one against Salem and one coming against Point Park.
Jarvis, a junior from Sun City, Arizona, turned in a dominant week in the circle for the Senators, earning two complete game victories while striking out 19 batters. She finished the with 24 strikeouts overall. She secured wins over Charleston and West Virginia State, allowing just three earned runs combined across those outings. Jarvis consistently worked deep into games, throwing three complete games on the week and providing a steady presence in the circle for the Senators.
