BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s MEC Softball Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Fairmont State’s Emma Paul and Frostburg State’s Gracie Nelson have been named the MEC Softball Co-Player of the week while Frostburg State’s Izabella Donaldson and Glenville State’s Kylie Burdick have been named the MEC Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week.
 
Paul, a sophomore from Kittanning, Pennsylvania, helped the Falcons win five games this week. She had a .357 batting average and a .643 slugging percentage. She tallied five hits with eight RBIs and scored a run.
 
Nelson, a senior from Fredrick, Maryland, helped the Bobcats to a perfect 6-0 week. Batting .545 while scoring 12 total runs. She had two hits in every single game and tied her career-high twice with three runs scored in both contests against Ferrum. She totaled 14 hits and an RBI.
 
Donaldson, a sophomore from Meyersdale, Pennsylvania, helped the Bobcats to a 6-0 week, recording three wins in the circle while also recording seven RBI at the plate. She threw 13 total innings, allowing nine hits and five earned runs while striking out 14 batters. While hitting, she had a pair of 3-for-4 games against Ferrum and West Virginia Wesleyan, totaling two home runs and two doubles while also scoring five runs. 
 
Burdick, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, went 2-0 for the Pioneers on the weekend, picking up two complete games against WV State and Charleston, including a shutout versus defending MEC Champion UC. She gave up just seven hits, one earned run, one walk and struck out nine batters over the two games.
