BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has selected the winners of this week’s MEC Player of the Week awards for women’s lacrosse. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Point Park’s Andrea Kinger has been named the MEC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week Frostburg State’s Izzy Kelly and Dominican’s (CA) Elke Moerkeseth have been named the MEC Co-Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.
Kinger, a freshman attacker from Beaver County, Pennsylvania, scored 10 goals while passing out 2 assists in two contests this week. Her top performance of the week was on Friday against Lake Erie, scoring 6 goals and passing out one assist. She also recorded 8 groundballs against Lake Erie.
Kelly, a senior from East Islip, New York, helped the Bobcats to a 1-1 week with 4 caused turnovers and 3 groundballs. Had a pair of CT's against both #20 Kutztown and Bloomsburg, including picking one up in overtime against BU that led to the game-winning goal.
Moerkeseth, a junior from University Place, Washington, had 4 caused turnovers and 4 ground balls in Dominicans 13-10 win over Charleston.
