Bright, Khan Earn MEC Baseball Honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s MEC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Glenville State’s Adam Bright has been named the MEC Baseball Player of the Week while Wheeling’s Sebastian Khan has been named the MEC Pitcher of the Week.

Bright, a junior from North Ridgeville, Ohio, went 2-for-6 in Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Mansfield, producing a grand slam and walking twice on the day. He went 2-for-4 in the second game of the DH, with his grand slam proving to be instrumental in the 10-9 extra inning game.

Khan, a senior from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, threw a gem in game one of the Cardinal's rain shortened two-game series with Virginia State. The right hander threw a complete seven-innings, allowing just two hits while walking one and striking out a career-best nine batters in the effort. Khan would retire the first 10 batters he faced, giving up his first hit in the bottom of the fourth. He only allowed two base runners once in the game and pitched the Cardinals to their 3-0 win.
