Wheeling Sweeps MEC Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Volleyball Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Wheeling swept the MEC Volleyball Players of the Week awards with Cami Black taking Offensive honors and Kendall Kupper receiving Defensive recognition. The Cardinals opened conference play with a 3-1 win against West Virginia State, the defending champions.

Black, a junior from Senecaville, Ohio, knocked down a team-high 18 kills with a .250 hitting percentage in the Cardinals’ MEC opening victory. She also finished with a trio of digs and two block assists in the four-set win.

Kupper, a freshman from Fairfield, Ohio, spearheaded the Cardinals’ defensive effort. She set a career high with 34 digs, and she showcased her versatility with five assists on offense. Kupper climbed to No. 6 in the MEC in digs per set with 3.71.
