BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has announced the first MEC Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards for the 2025 baseball season. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Glenville State’s Zac Bayor and West Virginia State’s Brodie Guenther share this week’s MEC Player of the Week award with Glenville State’s Nathan Farmer earning MEC Pitcher of the Week honors.
Bayor, a senior catcher/outfielder from Lakewood Ranch, Fla., helped lead the Pioneers to a series win against Clarion (Pa.), going 5-for-10 with two home runs, a double and five RBIs. He also drew three walks and scored three runs.
Guenther, a junior third baseman from Warman, Sask., was a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate in a pair of wins over Bluefield State. He drove in four runs and scored four more to propel the Yellow Jackets’ offensive charge.
Farmer, a senior pitcher from Frederick, Md., held Clarion (Pa.) to just one run on three hits in a strong 5-inning start this weekend. Farmer struck out the side in the top of the first, added two more whiffs in the third frame and induced five ground-ball outs – including a clutch double-play to preserve a 1-1 tie in the top of the 5
th.
