Swimming & Diving Championships: Day 2

CANTON, Ohio – Fairmont State's Patrick Fubio and Frostburg State's Genevieve Rippeon picked up third-place finishes to highlight Day 2 of the of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference/Mountain East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. The four-day event is being held at C.T. Branin Natatorium, and is being hosted by Malone University. The G-MAC has four teams competing, while the MEC has six representatives.

Fubio made his mark early in Thursday's evening session, recording a time of 49.45 to barely finishing ahead of Frostburg State's Dylan King to claim third in the Men's 100 Yard Butterfly. Moments later, Rippeon made her move, too, finishing behind a pair of Findlay swimmers and ahead of Joanna Burnham from Hillsdale to claim third in the Women's 400 Yard Individual Medley. 

A pair of MEC teams also finished third in the 400 Yard Medley Relay: Frostburg State on the women's side, and Fairmont State on the men's side. 

After two days of competition, the University of Findlay leads the women's team standings, followed by Hillsdale College, Ashland University, Frostburg State University, and Wheeling University. 

On the men's side, Findlay also leads the pack, followed by Ashland, Frostburg State, Wheeling, and Fairmont. 

Friday's prelims begin at 10 a.m., with finals set for 6 p.m.
