Rodriguez, Tanouye Named Co-MEC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winner of this week’s Co-Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week. The weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Wheeling’s Alexander Rodriguez and Fairmont State’s Donovan Tanouye share week one honors.
 
Rodriguez, a freshman from Chippewa Lake, Ohio, made his collegiate debut at the Youngstown State University Icebreaker. In the Men's Pole Vault, he finished third in the field, vaulting a height of 4.30-meters. It was good for the top mark in the conference by .37 meters as he finished as the top MEC competitor at the event, while beating out the top DI Pole Vaulter in competition. He rounded out his day running in the 60-Meter Dash, where he finished with a time of 7.51 seconds to finish top 20 among his MEC Competition.
 
Tanouye, a freshman from Paw Paw, West Virginia, earned a seventh-place finish in the 5,000-meter race at the Marshall University Opener. He fished the race with a time of 15:06.68.
