Fairmont State Sweeps MEC Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Volleyball Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Fairmont State swept the MEC Volleyball Players of the Week awards, with Joey Borelle earning Offensive honors and Josie Skinn taking Defensive accolades. The Falcons defeated Wheeling, 3-1, and Concord, 3-0 last week.

Borelle, a senior from Norton, Ohio, had 15 kills in the victory at Wheeling, and 16 skills in the sweep of the Mountain Lions. Skinn, a senior from Norwalk, Ohio, recorded 40 digs in the two wins, and now ranks No. 9 nationally in digs per set and second in Division II in total digs. The Falcons are 19-9 overall and 7-4 in MEC play entering the twilight of the regular season.
