BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Swimmer of the Week awards. The weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Wheeling student-athletes Felix Norlin and Nike Chrysafi are the MEC Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week.
Norlin, a freshman from Sweden, helped the Cardinals in a bounce-back win against Salem last Wednesday night. He was the team’s top scorer with 518.5 points, earning an individual win in the 200-yard individual medley with a personal-best time of 2:01.25. He also served as the breaststroke leg of the 400-yard medley relay, earning another win.
Chrysafi, a freshman from Greece, helped the Cardinals in a win against Salem. She scored a meet-high 454 points, with a trio of first-place finishes. Chrysafi set a personal best in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21.12. She also took the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke and was the leadoff leg of the 400-yard medley relay team that took home first.
