BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Fairmont State’s Mia Abruzzino and Patrick Fubio repeated as the Mountain East Conference Swimmers of the Week on Monday afternoon.
 
The MEC Swimmer of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Abruzzino, a sophomore from Fairmont, W.Va., finished first in four different events to lead Fairmont State on Saturday. In individual events, Abruzzino finished first in the 100 freestyle (55.42), 100 butterfly (1:01.70) and 1,000 freestyle (11:26.09). She also swam the final leg of the winning 200 free relay, turning in a time of 24.78 during her split.
 
Fubio, a junior from Clarksburg, W.Va., also turned in four first-place finishes for the Fairmont State men’s swim team on Saturday. In individual events, Fubio finished first in the 100 butterfly (54.60) and 200 backstroke (1:54.16), setting a new pool record in the 200 backstroke event. He also helped FSU to wins in the 200 freestyle relay (1:32.92) and 400 medley relay (3:44.97).
