Fairmont State Sweeps Weekly Swimming Awards

MEC Swimmer of the Week is presented by The Health Plan

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Fairmont State’s Patrick Fubio has been named the MEC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while fellow teammate Alicia Perez has been named the MEC Women’s Swimmer of the Week.
 
The MEC Men’s & Women’s Swimmer of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Fubio, a junior from Clarksburg, West Virginia, had three inidivdual first-place finishes and helped his team win the 400 Medley Relay against West Virginia Wesleyan last week. He took first in the 200 Free with a time of 1:49.09, then was first in the 50 Free with a time of 22.42. He also touched the wall first in the 500 Free with a time of 5:11.85. In addition, he anchor Fairmont State's 400 Medley Relay, which took first place with a time of 3:38.61 (swimming his split in 52.99).
 
Perez, a freshman from the Dominican Republic, had three individual first-place finishes while also helping her relay team win the 200 Free Relay against West Virginia Wesleyan. She took first in the 1,000 Free with a time of 11:19.82, was first in the 50 Breaststroke with a time of 33.77, and then was first to touch the wall in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:13.93. She also swam a split time of 26.58 in the 200 Free Relay.
