CANTON, Ohio – Frostburg State turned in two runner-up finishes to highlight day one of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference-Mountain East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton on Wednesday evening.
Frostburg’s Lydia Nebiolo recorded a time of 10:26.94 to finish second in the women’s 1000 freestyle event, turning in the top individual performance of the night for the MEC.
In the men’s 200 freestyle relay, Frostburg State finished second with a time of 1:24.75 to cap the evening at the Branin Natatorium. The Frostburg State relay team included Julian Najarro Sedar, Noah Loper, Andrew Creelman and Tory Reynolds.
In other individual action, Frostburg State’s Liz Perry turned in the top MEC time in the women’s 50 free with a time of 24.53, finishing seventh overall. Wheeling’s Jade Miller finished 11
th in the 200 IM to take first team All-MEC honors.
On the men’s side, Frostburg State’s Nate Canapp finished third in the 1000 freestyle (9:32.40), while Davis & Elkins’ Enrique Garcia finished third in the 200 IM (1:53.96). Fairmont State’s Gabriel Peragallo was the first MEC swimmer to touch the wall in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.79.
In the men’s team standings, Findlay currently sits atop the leaderboard with 535 points, followed by Frostburg State (343), Ashland (320), Fairmont State (168) and Notre Dame (163).
On the women’s leaderboard, Findlay currently owns the top spot with 505.5 points, followed by Hillsdale (396.5), Frostburg State (242), Fairmont State (173) and Notre Dame (150).
