In 2018-19, the Mountain East Conference began its "Dear Sport" initiative where student-athletes in the conference were encouraged to write a letter to their sport. The initiative provides the opportunity for student-athletes to express in their own words the impact that sports has played in shaping them throughout their lives.

Below is a letter from Logan Henderson, a baseball player from Glenville State.
Dear Baseball,
I can only start off by saying thank you for the past 15 years that we have shared together. There have been many ups and downs, but with a little perseverance, we have come a long way.
You have taught me some of the most important aspects of life that I will never forget and I will take those with me into the real world. From responsibility, to hard work, and most of all competitive edge. You have reminded me to never give up even through the failure. You have blessed me with some of the closest and greatest friends that will last a lifetime. Most importantly, you have given me something to live for and I have learned to always chase my heart and my dreams because of you. There have been several major injuries and setbacks, but they only paved the way to get me where I am now. Through those times, I learned that quitting was never an option and that is a characteristic that I will take with me for the rest of my days.
Luckily for me, you always reminded me that baseball is just a game, and that the most important part is to have fun. It has been the most enjoyable and life-changing journey that I will ever experience in life and I will never forget you.
As it comes to an end, it is very bittersweet and almost unbelievable that I have to say goodbye, but I will always have a piece of you in me because of the characteristics that you have instilled in me and the most amazing memories that we have been able to cherish together.
So for the final time, I can only come back to say, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
Logan Henderson #7
