BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s MEC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Point Park’s Olindo Pezzone has been named the MEC Baseball Player of the Week while fellow Pioneer Ramon Rodriguez has been named the MEC Pitcher of the Week.
Pezzone, a sophomore from Struthers, Ohio, batted .455 on the week with four home runs and one double. He drove in 11 RBIs and scored five runs on the week, slugging 1.636.
Rodriguez, a senior from Cayey, Puerto Rico, on Friday, Rodriguez pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out 10 batters in a 1-0 victory over Barry.
