BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s MEC Softball Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Concord’s Lacie Lewis has been named the MEC Softball Player of the week while Charleston’s Addison Mass has been named the MEC Softball Pitchers of the Week.
Lewis, a senior from Kearneysville, West Virginia, batted .458 (11-for-24) in a 5-1 weekend for the Mountain Lions. She belted five home runs and drove in 13 runs while slugging 2.455. Lewis opened the week with her third career multi-home run game as CU cruised to a 13-0 win over Point Park—she had a career-best five RBIs. On Friday, Lewis was 6-for-10 at the plate in a doubleheader sweep of Davis & Elkins as she crushed a pair of home runs in the second game and recorded six RBIs. Lewis went over 200 career hits and 30 career home runs with the week's performance. She had at least one RBI in five of the six games.
Mass, a senior from Ringwood, Illinois, went 2-0 on the week with 20 strikeouts across 14.0 innings pitched. She threw two complete games, including an 11-strikeout performance in a 3-1 win over Fairmont State and a nine strikeout outing in a 13-5 win over Frostburg State.
