BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s MEC Softball Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
West Virginia State’s Cassidy Cummings has been named the MEC Softball Player of the week while Fairmont State’s Delaney Haller has been named the MEC Softball Pitchers of the Week.
 
Cummings, a junior from Ripley, West Virginia, started all four games for the Yellow Jackets, batting .455 on the week, with four RBIs and two doubles. She went 1-for-1 against Charleston on Thursday, with a double and three walks. She also went 3-for-6 Sunday in a doubleheader sweep of WV Wesleyan, with three RBIs and a double. Also went 1-for-1 in stolen base attempts.
 
Haller, a junior from Meadowbrook, W.Va., helped the Falcons go 3-0 this week with wins over Frostburg State, West Liberty, and Wheeling. She had 10 strikeouts allowing two earned runs and no walks.
