CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.- No. 7 Glenville State fell to No. 2 Missouri Southern State, 5-3, Thursday evening inside Frost Stadium at Warner Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Missouri Southern State looked dominant throughout the first half of the game, scoring four unanswered runs through the first four innings.
Glenville State’s sophomore Addie Hicks helped the Pioneers get on the board after a wild pitch in the top of the fifth, 4-1.
The Lions responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring their final run with a solo shot to left field, 5-1.
In the top of the seventh, the Pioneers loaded the bases on three consecutive walks. Junior Hannah Howe and freshman Macie Duvall crossed the plate after the Lions issued four walks and a hit by pitch.Missouri Southern State concluded the game with a pair of strikeouts, 5-3.
Senior Kylie Burdick pitched five innings, while allowing five runs on nine hits.
Senior Emma McLean and junior Alexis Harward each added an RBI.
Glenville State will now face the loser of game four between No. 3 North Georgia and No. 6 McKendree on Saturday, May 30th at 1:30 p.m in Chattanooga.
