Charleston Softball Earns Win Over Glenville State, Fairmont State Falls to East Stroudsburg in NCAA DII Softball Atlantic Regional

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The University of Charleston defeated the Glenville State Pioneers on Thursday in the NCAA DII Softball Atlantic Regional while Fairmont State University fell to East Stroudsburg.
 
No. 2 East Stroudsburg def. No. 7 Fairmont State, 1-0
 
STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Fairmont State University fell in the 2026 NCAA DII Atlantic Regional to the No. 2 seed East Stroudsburg, 1-0.
 
The only run in the contest came in the bottom of the fourth as East Stroudsburg’s Katie Master homered to left center, 1-0.
 
Fairmont State tried to mount a comeback but only managed to have 2 hits in the last three innings as they fell.
 
East Stroudsburg had eight hits in the contest while Fairmont State had just two hits.
 
Emma Paul and Jaylin McGill each went 1-for-3 for the Falcons. Fairmont State’s Delaney Haller pitched all six innings allowing eight hits with four strike outs.
 
Katie Master went 2-for-3 with a home run while Megan Chroniger went 2-for-3. Sarah Davenport of East Stroudsburg pitched the complete game allowing just two hits and struck out nine batters.
 
Fairmont State will now play the No. 6 seed West Chester on Friday, May 15th at 12:30 p.m. in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
 
No. 5 Charleston def. No. 4 Glenville State, 9-6
 
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – In a rematch of the 2026 MEC Softball Championship the University of Charleston Golden Eagles defeated the Glenville State Pioneers, 9-6, in the NCAA DII Softball Atlantic Regional.
 
Both teams combined for 18 hits in the contest with UC tallying nine and GSU having nine. Glenville State committed two errors in the contest while Charleston had none.
 
The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, scoring four runs in the first inning and two in the second inning. The Pioneers would respond and pull within two, as they scored two runs in the third and another two in the fourth, making it 6-4.
 
UC added another run in the fifth as they now led, 7-4.
 
However, GSU would add another two runs, this time in the sixth innings, pulling within one run trailing 7-6.
 
The Golden Eagles answered in the seventh building their lead to 9-6. GSU had one more shot in bottom of the seventh but could only muster one hit as they fell to UC, 9-6.
 
Emma Smith went 2-for-4 with five RBIs for UC while Bianca Polistina went 3-for-3 at the plate. Addison Mass earned the victory on the mound, pitching four innings allowing two earned runs, five hits, and struck out three batters.
 
Delany Warnick went 1-for-3 with three RBIs for GSU. Hannah Howe went 2-for-4 at the plate. Kylie Burdick went just one inning allowing four earned runs and two hits. Maci Boggess pitched six innings for the Pioneers allowing seven hits, three earned runs, and two strike outs.
 
Glenville State, the No. 4 seed, will now play the No. 8 seed Claflin University tomorrow Friday, May 15th at 1:30 p.m. in an elimination game. Charleston, the No. 5 seed, will take on the No. 1 seed in Shippensburg University tomorrow Friday, May 15th at 11 a.m.
