2026 MEC Softball Tournament: Day 3 Recap

SALEM, Va. - Championship Saturday has been determined as the University of Charleston stayed undefeated and Glenville State put together two impressive wins to set up a matchup of the MEC South Co-Champions tomorrow inside the James I. Moyer Sports Complex. UC will be in search of their fourth consecutive MEC Tournament Championship Saturday afternoon.

Game 11 - #1S Charleston 9, #1N Fairmont State 4

Four different Golden Eagles had two or more hits and Kayla Moran drove in three as Charleston advanced to the 2026 Mountain East Conference Championship game. The Golden Eagles will need to be beat twice to be dethroned.

UC struck first and led 4-0 after three innings of play, but a big four-run fourth inning by Fairmont State knotted it up at four. Taylor Hodson had two hits on the day and delivered a big one in the bottom half of the fourth to Charleston the lead back. Shortly after, Moran had two of her three RBIs with a rocket off the right field fence, making it 7-4.

The Fighting Falcons threatened later on, but the MEC Pitcher of the Year, Addison Mass, picked up her 28th win of the year and third of the tournament. Hodson and Moran delivered insurance in the sixth inning as Charleston pushed Fairmont State to the losers bracket, 9-4.

Game 12 - #2S Glenville State 6, #2N Frostburg State 2

A four-run first inning proved to be crucial for Glenville State in keeping their MEC Championship hopes alive as the Pioneers downed Frostburg State, 6-2.

Delaney Warnick, Kylee Goodman, Zailees Seda and Alexis Harward helped put early runs on the board for GSU, and AndiJo Howard walked with the bases loaded to give the Pioneers a five-run lead. Frostburg State then trimmed the deficit to just three in the 4th inning with a pair of runs, however, Emily Nolan drove in a run in the 5th to keep the Bobcats at bay.

Meghan Stump pitched a complete game for the Pioneers, striking out five and surrendering two runs, both of which were unearned on the junior pitcher. Frostburg State’s Sage Haller and Laura Gilford both had two hits in the defeat.

Game 13 - #2S Glenville State 14, #1N Fairmont State 0 (5 Inn.)

In a must-win to advance to Saturday’s championship, the Pioneers pieced together one of their strongest offensive performances of the season in a 14-0 win over Fairmont State. Glenville State scored 11 runs in the 5th inning and had seven different batters notch a hit.

Delaney Warnick continued her hot streak in the tournament, getting the scoring started with an RBI single in the third inning. Emily Nolan backed her up with a two-run home run in the same stanza, pushing Glenville State’s lead to 3-0. Then, came the offensive explosion in the fifth.

Delaney Warnick batted twice and five of her six RBIs in the inning, which included a grand slam, while Goodman, Seda, AndiJo Howard, Shelby McDaniels and Lillian Burns all added RBIs. Seda and Burns both had two hits and Seda was one of three Pioneers who had at least two runs batted in.

Maci Boggess fanned five and gave up just five hits in her five innings of work with Fairmont State being forced to use five Falcon pitchers in the loss.
