SALEM, Va. - The 2026 Mountain East Conference Softball Championship field has dwindled down to four teams after an exciting day two at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex.
Number one seeds Charleston and Fairmont State stayed undefeated while second-seeded Glenville State and Frostburg State evaded elimination for at least one more day as we head into the weekend.
Game Five: #1S Charleston 6, #2N Frostburg State 4
Charleston used a four-run fifth inning and two RBIs from Kaleigh Serra to advance in the winners bracket as one of two remaining undefeated teams.
Kylee Piconi knocked in two of her three RBIs in the second inning as Frostburg State struck first. The Golden Eagles knotted things up at two the following inning before Piconi once again gave FSU a lead with an RBI single. Serra’s two RBIs came at a big moment for the Golden Eagles in the 5th and Addison Mass worked her way through the closing innings to pick up win No. 27 on the year.
Game Six: #1N Fairmont State 5, #2S Glenville State 2
Fairmont State scored three runs in the first inning and All-MEC First Team selection Breonna Marietta powered her 16th home run as the Falcons set up a #1 seed showdown with their 5-2 win over Glenville State.
Marietta got the scoring started with a two-RBI double and Alexa Foresha had a sac fly as the Falcons jumped on the Pioneers early. Fairmont State extended their lead in the 3rd on Marietta’s home run before Glenville State’s Delaney Warnick blasted her second home run of the MEC Tournament in the sixth to trim GSU’s deficit to two. FSU added a run in the sixth and Delaney Haller struck out four in her ninth complete game of 2026.
Game Seven: #3S Concord 3, #4N Davis & Elkins 1
A Reghan Hintz two-RBI single in the sixth inning was the difference in Concord’s 3-1 win over Davis & Elkins in the tournament’s first elimination game.
Hintz dealt in the circle as well, pitching a one-run shutout with five strikeouts and just five hits allowed. Concord got on the board early with an RBI single in the first inning, however, Davis & Elkins stayed alive with an RBI double by Sammie Jarvis in the 5th inning. The double by HIntz sealed the deal as the two teams combined for just nine hits.
Game Eight: #4S West Virginia State 9, #3N West Liberty 5
Gianna Sloan-Lebron notched four hits and Sydney Shamblin had three knocks as West Virginia State extended their stay in Salem for another game.
Rylee Mangold had both of her RBIs in the opening inning as West Liberty pushed out to an early 2-0 advantage. A five-run third inning gave West Virginia State their first lead of the tournament, but the Hilltoppers quickly responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. The two squads traded runs before WVSU pulled away with three runs in the seventh inning. Hope Sizemore walked one batter and surrendered just two earned runs in the victory.
Game Nine: #2S Glenville State 8, #3S Concord 5
Glenville State had eight different batters record a hit and erased a four-run first inning deficit to comeback against Concord, 8-5.
Delaney Warnick hit her third home run of the tournament and scored two runs, being a big part of Glenville State’s five-run 3rd inning. Kylee Goodman, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and AndiJo Howard added insurance for the Pioneer pitching staff in back-to-back innings late. Maci Boggess pitched a strong six innings and Meghan Stump recorded her first save of the year as GSU survived and advanced.
Game 10: #2N Frostburg Stat 7, #4S West Virginia State 6 (11 Inn.)
Frostburg State scored three runs in the 7th and Ally Myers walked it off in the 11th inning to keep Frostburg State in the tournament.
Both teams scored two runs in the opening inning before FSU grabbed a one-run advantage on Grace Nelson’s RBI single. Nelson was one of six Bobcats who had two hits and one of four who had an RBI. A pair of singles and multiple fielder’s choices allowed WVSU to grab a 6-3 lead heading into the 7th, but home runs from MEC Player of the Year Arden Miller and Izabella Donaldson extended the night. Four innings later, Myers was the hero with one of her three RBIs.
