Fairmont, W.Va. – Fairmont State University claimed the 2026 Mountain East Conference Acrobatics & Tumbling title defeating Glenville State, 261.450-243.200. It’s the second straight season in which the Falcons sweep the MEC regular season and tournament championship and it’s the programs fifth tournament championship.
Fairmont State, which went undefeated in the MEC for the second straight season, took a slight lead after the compulsory event, 36.325-35.150.
In the acro event, the Falcons would score a 9.175 or high in all three heats as they took the event, 28.200-27.975. Even with the lead, Fairmont State would make even more separation after taking the pyramid event besting GSU, 29.200-26.875.
Fairmont State then took all three heats in the toss event as they won the event 28.375-27.675. The tumbling event would be very close but again the Falcons would come out on top. Fairmont State scored 9.550 or higher in three-of-the-six heats. Glenville State 9.525 or higher in two-of-the-six heats as Fairmont State took it, 53.950-50.625.
In final event, the team event, Glenville State would score a 74.900 while Fairmont State scored a 85.400 and take the championship, winning 261.450-243.200.
Sunday’s 2026 MEC Championship began with the Event Finals. Fairmont State led the way by winning nine of the events, followed by Glenville State’s five individual titles.
The NCATA national championship is set to begin Thursday, April 23 at the Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California. The eight-team, single-elimination tournament field and at-large qualifiers for Event Finals will be released will be announced on Monday, April 13
th at 2 p.m.
In addition to Fairmont State in the top five, Glenville State was ranked No. 11 nationally in the final rankings of the season.
