Fairmont State, Glenville State Advance to Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship

FAIRMONT, W.Va. - Regular season champion and top seed Fairmont State will face second-seeded Glenville State in Sunday’s Mountain East Conference Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship.
 
The host Falcons ranked No. 4 nationally by the NCATA, advanced after winning Saturday’s first semifinal by eliminating fourth-seeded Kutztown, 261.235-223.740, to return to the championship. The Pioneers punched their ticket to the Championship on Sunday as they defeated the third-seeded Frostburg State Bobcats by a final, 254.475 to 249.420.
 
The semifinal competition was held inside Joe Retton Arena on the campus of Fairmont State University. Fairmont State and Glenville State will meet Sunday at 6 p.m. for the MEC title.
 
Sunday’s action will get underway at 12 p.m. with the MEC’s Event Finals. The participants for the Event Finals qualifiers were announced Wednesday and can be found here.

Fairmont State punched its ticket back to the 2026 MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship with a win over the fourth-seeded Kutztown University Golden Bears, 261.235-223.740. Fairmont State will take on the winner of the second-seeded Glenville State University Pioneers and the third-seeded Frostburg State University Bobcats.
 
Fairmont State kicked off the first semifinal after taking the compulsory event, scoring 37.500 to Kutztown 33.725. The Falcons continued their strong performance taking the acro event 28.525 to 23.700.
 
The pyramid event would come down to the wire and Fairmont State would prevail winning it 29.375 to KU’s 28.200. In the toss event it would be all Falcons as they cruised to a 29.075 to 24.400 victory.
 
Fairmont State then took the tumbling event as they scored a 8.150 or higher in all six heats. The Falcons took it by a final, 54.550 to 43.525.
 
In the final event of semifinal one, the team event, Kutztown would score a season high 70.190 however it would be enough as Fairmont State scored an 82.210 as they won the meet advancing back to the MEC Championship, 261.235 to 223.740.
 
The MEC Championship will take place on Sunday, April 12th from inside the Joe Retton Arena on the campus of Fairmont State at 6 p.m.

Glenville State, the two-seed, advanced to the MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship as they defeated the third-seed Frostburg State Bobcats, 254.475-249.420.GSU will face off against the one-seed Falcons of Fairmont State which is a rematch of last year’s championship.
 
Glenville State held the slight advantage after winning the compulsory event over Frostburg State, 36.375-36.175. The Pioneers then added to their lead after taking the acro event, 28.650-27.425.
 
The pyramid event was just as close as the first two, but again GSU held the slight advantage winning it, 29.525-28.850. The toss event would also belong to the Pioneers as they defeated the Bobcats, 27.875-27.250.
 
In the tumbling event, Glenville State scored an 8.025 or higher in all six heats as they took the event over Frostburg State, 52.150-48.900.
 
In the last and final event of the meet, the team event, Frostburg State would score a season high 80.820 and win the team event over GSU’s 79.900. However, it wouldn’t be enough as Glenville State won the meet, 254.475-249.420 and go advance to the MEC Championship for a second straight year.
