MEC Announces Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has selected the winners of this week’s MEC Player of the Week awards for women’s lacrosse. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Frostburg State’s Neila Haney and Wheeling’s Jovie Noack have been named the MEC Women’s Lacrosse Co-Offensive Player of the Week while Frostburg State’s Izzy Kelly has been named the MEC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Haney, a senior attacker from Lino Makes, Minnesota, scored 9 total goals to go with 4 assists and 17 draw controls in team's 2-0 week. She had 10 total points on 7 goals and 3 assists in the 17-7 win over Shepherd, while also grabbing a career-high 12 draw controls. Followed up with two goals and an assist in team's 11-10 win over Shippensburg, also causing two turnovers and netting five draw controls.
 
Noack, a senior attacker from Central Moriches, New York, led the Cardinals on a big week that saw them go 2-0 against Chestnut Hill and Lake Erie College. Noack led a Cardinal offense that scored 41 goals during the week, finishing with 10 goals and five assists to account for 15 points during the week. It was a pair of season-best performances for the senior, starting against Chestnut Hill. She would score a season-best seven goals in the effort, while adding one assist to finish with eight points. She followed that up with a career-best performance against Lake Erie, where she set a new career-high with four assists, finishing with three goals and four assists to finish with seven points on the day.
 
Kelley, a senior defender from East Islip, New York, totaled 5 caused turnovers and 10 groundballs as team went 2-0 in the week. She had a season-high 3 caused turnovers to go with 4 groundballs in the 17-7 victory over Shepherd. Followed with a pair of CT's and a career-high 6 groundballs in the 11-10 win over Shippensburg. This is the second straight week Kelley has earned Player of the Week honors.
