Haney, Bauer Earn MEC Women’s Lacrosse Honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has selected the winners of this week’s MEC Player of the Week awards for women’s lacrosse. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Frostburg State’s Neila Haney has been named the MEC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week while Davis & Elkins’ Megan Bauer has been named the MEC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Haney, a senior from Lino Lakes, Minnesota, helped the Bobcats to a 2-0 week, scoring eight total goals while providing three assists. She led all players with six points on three goals and assists in a 15-7 win over Lock Haven, while also totaling 2 draw controls, caused turnovers, and groundballs. In the 13-8 win over Davis & Elkins, she netted five goals and caused another pair of turnovers. 
 
Bauer, a senior from Wadsworth, Illinois, recorded 20 total saves across two games for the Senators, highlighted by a strong performance in a 21-5 win at Ferrum where she allowed just two goals while making seven saves for a .778 save percentage. She followed that with 13 saves and a .500 save percentage against Frostburg State while facing heavy offensive pressure. She also picked up two ground balls and caused two turnovers against Frostburg.
