Hewitt, Ross Named MEC Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -  The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winner of this week’s Men’s & Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week. The weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Charleston’s Hugo Hewitt has been named the MEC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week while West Liberty’s Ky’Ara Ross has been named the MEC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Hewitt, a senior from Surrey, England, ran a new PR 8:21.87 in the 3000M at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet. He placed 3rd overall in his heat on Friday.
 
Ross, a junior from Canton, Ohio, won the long jump at the Youngstown State University Last Chance Invitational posting a leap of 5.78 meters (18-11.75).
