2026 MEC Indoor Track & Field Championships Set for This Weekend

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The annual Mountain East Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship is set to begin this weekend at the Chris Cline Athletic Facility Complex.
 
The two-day meet will get underway on Saturday, February 21st at 11 a.m. The meet will conclude late on Sunday night, followed by an awards ceremony. The MEC Indoor Track & Field Championship will be streamed here.
 
The teams competing in this year’s event: Concord, Davis & Elkins, Fairmont State, Frostburg State, Glenville State, Point Park, Charleston, West Liberty, West Virginia State, West Virginia Wesleyan, and Wheeling. This will be the first year that Fairmont State will compete at the Indoor Track & Field Championship.
 
In last year’s meet, also held at the Chris Cline Athletic Complex, the University of Charleston swept the men’s and women’s championship.
 
The UC men won for the fourth straight year while scoring 166 points. UC was followed by Davis & Elkins (82), and West Liberty (75). The Golden Eagles had two award winners last season in Sam Idiens, Track Athlete of the Year, while Nick Bias was the Men’s Coach of the Year in 2025.
 
Charleston’s women won last year’s title with 178.5 points. Point Park came in 2nd with 95 points, and they were followed by West Virginia Wesleyan (90). UC had three award winners on the women’s side last year, while Point Park’s Tim Creamer was named the 2025 Women’s Coach of the Year.
