BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winner of this week’s Men’s & Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week. The weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Concord’s Dom Collins has been named the MEC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week while Point Park’s Dunya Van den Tooren has been named the MEC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
Collins, a red-shirt freshman from Princeton, West Virginia, clocked a career-best time of 6.81 seconds in the 60-meter dash at the Liberty Open Friday night. The time was an NCAA Division II Provisional Qualifying time as he ranks top 40 in the country. Collins finished second in the event at Liberty.
Van den Tooren, a sophomore from the Netherlands, finished first in the Triple Jump at Friday's Scorcher/Columbia Challenge hosted by the Armory in Bronx, New York. Her mark of 11.73m ranks first in the MEC and just missed an NCAA provisional mark at 11.74m.
