Meli, Barr, and Patti Named MEC Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

Bridgeport, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winner of this week’s Men’s & Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week. The weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Charleston’s Mathew Meli was named the MEC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week while Natalie Barr of Glenville State and Colette Patti of Charleston has been named MEC Co-Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week.
 
Meli, a freshman from Eldoret, Kenya, won the 3k at the Mondo College Invitational with a time of 8:12.4 which was a new Charleston indoor 3k school record. 
 
Barr, a sophomore from Canvas, West Virginia, returned to the track for the Pioneer Indoor team on Saturday, breaking her own school record and winning the one-mile race with a time of 5:06. Barr also raced to a second-place finish in the 800m run at Muskie Meet #2 on the campus of Muskingum.
 
Patti, junior from Columbus, Ohio, tied school record in the 60M at the Mondo College Invitational with a time of 7.61 seconds. She also set the school record in the 200M at the Mondo College Invitational with a time of 24.34 seconds. She ranks No. 7 on the national ranking list.
