Showalter named MEC Wrestler of the Week

Bridgeport, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winner of this week’s Wrestler of the Week. The weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Davis & Elkins Jeston Showalter has been named the MEC Wrestler of the Week.
 
Showalter, a freshman from Parkersburg, West Virginia, won the 165-pound championship at the Builder Invitational, finishing 5–0 and scoring 10 team points to help Davis & Elkins place 3rd out of 15 teams. Showalter earned five bonus-point victories, including two technical falls (15–0 vs. Cael Sandburg of James Madison and 18–1 vs. Eddries Nezam of Marymount), a major decision (14–5 vs. Robert Owens Jr. of Ferrum), and two pins in 1:14 (vs. Calvin Kopstein of VCU) and 0:49 (vs. Jon Byrd of East Carolina).
