2025 MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Honors Announced

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — On the eve of the 2025 Mountain East Conference Acrobatics & Tumbling Championships, the MEC announced Thursday its postseason award winners and all-conference teams.

The MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Top Honors were captured by Fairmont State's Katey Koehl, who repeated as the MEC Athlete of the Year. Koehl, who will lead the host Falcons into Friday and Saturday's Championships at Joe Retton Arena in Fairmont, West Virginia, helped the program to the league's regular season championship and No. 5 national ranking in the latest NCATA poll.

Glenville State's Payten Semenske was voted as the MEC Specialist of the Year. Semenske's teammate, Aubrey Ward, was named the MEC Freshman of the Year.

Fairmont State's Danielle Cutri captured the MEC Coach of the Year Award, as voted on by the league's coaches.

Koehl, a senior top, base, and tumbler, is now a three-time first team All-MEC honoree. Koehl, who was named an NCATA All-American in 2023 and 2024, was named the MEC Athlete of the Week a league-best three times this season. This season, she has been awarded once by NCATA as an honorable mention selection, starring for the Falcons in nine heats.

Semenske, a senior base, is a two-time MEC Specialist of the Week this season and repeats as an All-MEC first team selection. She has been honored by NCATA as a weekly award recipient, and competes in 13 heats for the Pioneers, boosting the team's start values in all events.

Ward is a base and tumbler who helped the Pioneers to a second-place finish in the regular season. She has twice been honored on a weekly basis by NCATA, and routinely competes in at least seven heats — and as many as 10 — for Glenville State. Ward was part of the Pioneers' pyramid events, helping heat 1 score a perfect 10.

Cutri captures the MEC Coach of the Year honor after leading Fairmont State to its second consecutive regular season championship.

A full list of MEC honorees is provided below. The MEC award winners and all-conference teams are selected following a vote of the league’s head coaches.
