Fairmont State’s Leslie Huffman has been selected as the 2025 Atlantic Region Player of the Year. She headlines the 2024-25 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Atlantic Region Women’s Basketball Team.
Huffman, the 2024-25 Mountain East Conference Player of the Year and the 2025 MEC Tournament MVP, enters the NCAA Tournament averaging 17.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. She ranks among the nation’s Top 40 players in free throws (15th, 140), points (23rd, 547) and steals (24th, 78). Huffman also posted the highest scoring average of any player in the MEC Tournament (18.6 points per game).
Joining Huffman on the 2024-25 All-Atlantic Region First Team are center Emily Chmiel (East Stroudsburg), guard Nya Morris (Claflin), wing Naia Pulliam (Kutztown) and forward Emilee Weakley (Frostburg State). These five women are now eligible for All-America recognition.
The second team consists of six players due to a tie in voting. It includes guard Morgan Gentile (Edinboro), forward Mia Kalich (Seton Hill), forward Michelle Kozicki (West Chester), guard Destiny Ryles (Bowie State), forward Abbie Smith (Concord) and forward Nyshae’ Weaver (IUP). Weakley, the nation’s leading scorer, is the only repeat honoree from last season. She is now a three-time All-Atlantic Region First Team award winner. Weakley and Smith, like Huffman, hail from the MEC.
The 2024-25 D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Women’s Basketball Team includes six seniors or graduate students, four juniors and one sophomore. The team features six players from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), three players from the MEC and two players from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
The 2024-25 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Women’s Basketball Championships will be hosted by Edinboro. Games will be played Friday, Saturday and Monday.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II Atlantic Region schools and conferences nominated and selected the all-region teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced later in the month. The Atlantic Region consists of all schools in the CIAA, MEC and PSAC along with Salem, an independent.
The team is sponsored by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association, which encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
