INDIANAPOLIS — West Liberty’s Ty McGeary added to his decorated career Saturday night, capturing his third national championship.
McGeary defeated Chadron State’s Keegan Gehlhausan (184 pounds) in the 338th bout of the two-day NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, held Friday and Saturday at Corteva Coliseum. McGeary, the reigning Division II Wrestler of the Year, finishes the season 33-1.
McGeary’s teammate, Khyvon Grace, also made a run to the championship match in his weight class at 141 pounds. Grace fell in the championship match to San Francisco State’s Johnny Lopez, but became a two-time All-American by virtue of his runner-up finish.
Overall, 14 MEC wrestlers competed at D2 Nationals, seven of whom earned All-America honors. In addition to West Liberty’s finalists, Glenville State set a program record with four All-Americans: Colton Drousias (125), Gabe Onorato (149), Kyle Homet (184), and Nicholas Johnson (197). Fairmont State’s Colton Stoneking, the 2025 MEC Most Outstanding Wrestler, also finishes the season as an All-America following his fifth-place finish.
West Liberty finished 10th in the team standings, while Glenville State ended up at 12th, Fairmont State 29th, and Frostburg State 38th.
