BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Swimmer of the Week awards. The weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Frostburg State student-athletes Dylan King and Genna Rippeon are the MEC Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week.
Rippeon, a sophomore from Ellicott City, Maryland, had five total wins at the Wooster Invitational. She took individual wins in the 500-yard free (5:04.28), 400 IM (4:33.61), and the 1,650 free (17:35.47). Rippeon was also a member of the winning 400 free (3:36.84) and 800 free (7:55.55) relays.
King, a junior from Harrisonburg, Virginia, had six top five finishes at the Wooster Invitational. King secured first place in the 100-yard fly with a new program record of 49.38. He finished second in the 200 fly (1:56.39) and third in the 200 IM (1:54.73). He was also a member of two fourth-place relays in the 400 free (3:11.75) and the 400 medley (3:30.58) and a fifth-place relay in the 800 free (7:20.33).
