BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
West Virginia State’s Sara París Fílter’s is the MEC Offensive Player of the Week, while University of Charleston’s Zailee Roberts is the MEC Defensive Player of the Week.
 
París Fílter, who is from Spain, enjoyed a four-goal week as the Yellow Jackets defeated West Virginia Wesleyan (6-3) and Glenville State (8-1). París Fílter scored all four goals in the win against the Bobcats, finding the back of the net in the 3rd, 61st, 89th, and 90th minute. The four goals is tied for the single-game best by an MEC player this season.
 
Roberts, who is from Charleston, West Virginia, helped anchor the Golden Eagles’ defense in consecutive shutouts against Glenville State and Davis & Elkins. Roberts also tallied her first goal of the season in the win against the Senators, a go-ahead goal in the 59th minute that proved to be the winner.
