BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division II Top 25 coaches preseason poll was released on Tuesday afternoon and Fairmont State University was recognized.
Fairmont State is ranked No. 16 in the WBCA. The Falcons received 176 points and are coming off a 27-5 record last season, including a 17-3 record in MEC play. They also swept the regular season and tournament championship last season. Leslie Huffman returns after a decorated campaign in which she was named the MEC Player of the Year, D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year, a D2CCA and WBCA All-American, the MEC Tournament Most Valuable Player, and MEC Female Athlete of the Year. Huffman has also been named a Kay Yow Servant Leader Award winner for the 2025-26 season.
Stepanie Anderson, MEC Coach of the Year and overall MEC Women's Sports Coach of the Year in 2024-25, and her team open up the 2025-26 season in Athens, West Virginia, against Lock Haven University on November 14.
