BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Concord’s Abbie Smith has been voted the 2025-26 D2CCA Atlantic Region Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, announced Thursday morning while two other MEC players earn honors.
Smith, a senior forward from Little Hocking, Ohio, was the 2025-26 MEC Player of the Year. She led the league in rebounds per contest with 10/9, field-goal percentage at 57.0, free-throw percentage at 85.7, was second in the league in scoring with 18.8 per game and post a league high 18 double-doubles.
She posted double figures in points in 27-of-29 games in 2025-26 while recording at least five rebounds in every game. Smith also had 19 games with double-digit rebounds.
Also earning honors from the MEC are Wheeling’s Kenzie Dalton and Frostburg State’s Julie Spinelli.
Dalton, a senior, was the MEC Defensive Player of the Year and an All-MEC First teamer. Dalton averaged 17.4 points per game which was 4
th in the MEC, was 8
th in rebounding with 7.4 per game, led the league in assist with 5.4 per game, while also leading the league in steals per game with 3.4.
Spinelli, a sophomore, was an All-MEC First teamer. She was 3
rd in the league in scoring averaging 17.6 points per game and was 9
th in rebounding with 7.2 per contest.
