Abbie Smith Named 2025-26 D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Concord’s Abbie Smith has been voted the 2025-26 D2CCA Atlantic Region Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, announced Thursday morning while two other MEC players earn honors.
 
Smith, a senior forward from Little Hocking, Ohio, was the 2025-26 MEC Player of the Year. She led the league in rebounds per contest with 10/9, field-goal percentage at 57.0, free-throw percentage at 85.7, was second in the league in scoring with 18.8 per game and post a league high 18 double-doubles.
 
She posted double figures in points in 27-of-29 games in 2025-26 while recording at least five rebounds in every game. Smith also had 19 games with double-digit rebounds.
 
Also earning honors from the MEC are Wheeling’s Kenzie Dalton and Frostburg State’s Julie Spinelli.
 
Dalton, a senior, was the MEC Defensive Player of the Year and an All-MEC First teamer. Dalton averaged 17.4 points per game which was 4th in the MEC, was 8th in rebounding with 7.4 per game, led the league in assist with 5.4 per game, while also leading the league in steals per game with 3.4.
 
Spinelli, a sophomore, was an All-MEC First teamer. She was 3rd in the league in scoring averaging 17.6 points per game and was 9th in rebounding with 7.2 per contest.
