Borsellino Voted MEC Wrestler of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty’s Francesco Borsellino has been named the MEC Wrestler of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
 
The MEC Wrestler of the Week award is presented by The Health Plan.
 
Borsellino, a graduate student from Waynesburg, Ohio, won the 285-pound title at the John Summa Invitational as the No. 2 wrestler in NCAA Division II (in the latest NWCA rankings). Borsellino went 4-0 on Saturday and now sits at 13-0 on the season. At the John Summa Invitational, Borsellino recorded a 6-0 win by decision over Wheeling’s Jake Powell, then pinned Zak Dillingham of Thiel (1:13) and Nick Barrett of Alfred State (1:34) to advance to the bracket final. In the finals, he pinned Caleb Burkhart of Wilkes. Borsellino also won the 2024 MEC Championship at 285 pounds back on Jan. 27.
