BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Three-time Mountain East Conference Acrobatics & Tumbling Champions Fairmont State has been picked as the 2023 preseason favorite following a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Fairmont State received four of the six first-place votes and collected 24 points during preseason balloting. The Falcons earned the seventh seed in the 2022 NCATA National Tournament in Eugene, Oregon and were ranked seventh in the NCATA Preseason National Coaches’ Poll that was released on Wednesday afternoon. Frostburg State followed closely behind Fairmont State in the preseason balloting with 22 points and the two remaining first-place votes. The Bobcats finished as tournament runner-up in 2022 and are ranked 12
th nationally in the NCATA Preseason Poll.
West Liberty, currently ranked 15
th in the NCATA national poll, was voted third in the MEC Preseason Poll with 17 points. The Hilltoppers were followed in the rankings by Glenville State (13), first-year program Notre Dame College (8) and Davis & Elkins (6).
The MEC acrobatics & tumbling school begins on Sunday, Feb. 5 with non-conference meets. The conference slate begins on Sunday, Feb. 12.
