McGeary Named MEC Wrestler of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- West Liberty's Ty McGeary has been named the MEC Wrestler of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.

The MEC Wrestler of the Week award is presented by The Health Plan.

McGeary, a senior from McDonald, Pennsylvania, went 5-0 on Saturday en route to the 184 pound title at the Findlay Open. He remains undefeated on the season as the No. 1 Wrestler in DII in the weight class. He opened the day with a 4-2 win by decision over No. 5 Reece Worachek of Wisconsin-Parkside. McGeary also recorded three bonus point victories, winning by fall (4:06) against Richard Legg of Ashland, winning by tech fall (17-1) over Seth Konynenbelt of Grand Valley State, and winning by major decision (10-2) over Brayden Mirjavadi who wrestled unattached from GVSU. He also won the first place match in sudden victory (4-1) over Peyton Lemon of Ashland.
