Charleston Earns No. 2 Seed in Super Region 1, Hosts New Haven Next Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS – After winning the 2023 Mountain East Conference Football Championship on Saturday afternoon with its 52-20 victory over West Virginia State, the University of Charleston (9-1) earned the No. 2 seed in Super Region 1 and will host New Haven (8-2) in the opening round of the Division II Football Playoffs next Saturday at UC Stadium.
 
The winner of the UC-New Haven matchup will face the winner of third-seeded Kutztown (9-2) and sixth-seeded Virginia Union (10-1) in the bottom half of the region’s bracket.
 
Virginia Union and Shepherd were swapped in the Super Region 1 and Super Region 2 brackets by the selection committee.
 
In the top half of the bracket, fourth-seeded Slippery Rock (10-1) will host fifth-seeded East Stroudsburg (9-2). Unbeaten Tiffin (11-0) is the top seed in Super Region 1 and will receive a first-round bye.
