BRDIGEPORT, W.Va. – Notre Dame’s Matthew Kaufmann was recognized on Monday afternoon as the Mountain East Conference Wrestler of the Week.
 
The MEC Wrester of the Week awards is presented by The Health Plan.
 
Kaufmann, a junior, took first place for Notre Dame at 149 pounds over the weekend at the Storm Open. He went 3-0 at the event, including a pair of decisions and a major decision. In the 149-poind first place match, Kaufmann defeated Klay Reeves of Ohio State University by a 3-0 score. He won 5-1 in the quarterfinals and had a 12-2 major decision in the semifinals.
