ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Seven wrestlers from the Mountain East Conference earned All-America honors, and three took home national championships at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships.
West Liberty's Cole Laya defeated fellow MEC member Nick Daggett in the 125 finals to take the championship. The Hilltoppers Tyler Warner was a champion at 133 pounds, and Fairmont State's Lukas Martin became the first NCAA Division II champion in school history by winning the title at 149 pounds.
WLU's Connor Craig advanced to the finals at 184 pounds, but was defeated in the championship match.
Also earning All-America honors were Daggett (UNC Pembroke, 125), Kelan McKenna (Notre Dame, 141) and Francesco Borsellino (West Liberty, 7th).
West Liberty finished fourth at the championship with 72.0 points. Martin's finish helped Fairmont State finish 16th (19.0 points), UNC Pembroke finished 19th (17.0 points) and Notre Dame was 20th (13.5). Davis & Elkins finished 35th (1.0 point).
