FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Frostburg State University knocked off Fairmont State University 79-70, Saturday afternoon at Joe Retton Arena.
The Bobcats (6-22, 5-17) held Fairmont State to just 29 percent from the field (19-of-65), while Frostburg shot 48 percent from the field (25-of-52). The Bobcats outrebounded the Falcons 44-33.
With three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Fairmont held a 68-67 lead over Frostburg after Rachel Laskody connected on a free throw. The Bobcats outscored the Falcons 12-2 in the final 2:51 of the game to secure the win.
Victoria Diggs led the way for the Bobcats scoring a game-high 33 points going 100 percent from the free-throw line making 16-of-16 attempts. Morgan Dombroski added 20 points and six rebounds for Frostburg State.
Sierra Kotchman scored 29 points and tallied two steals to lead the way for Fairmont (15-13, 12-10).
Concord 103 Glenville State 102 | Final Stats
ATHENS, W.Va. -- Concord’s Madison May drained a free throw with 13 seconds remaining to upset Glenville State 103-102, Saturday afternoon at home.
Concord’s (20-8, 16-5) May was fouled with 13 seconds remaining in the game with the contest tied 102-102. May connected on 1-of-2 free throw attempts to give the Mountain Lions the advantage. Glenville State missed a jump shot with time expiring.
Concord shot an outstanding 66 percent from the field (43-of-65), while Glenville shot 43 percent from the field (41-of-95). The Mountain Lions also outrebounded the Pioneers 38-33.
The Mountain Lions were led by May with 29 points and seven assists, while Riley Fitzwater posted a double-double with 26 points and 18 rebounds. Fitzwater also tallied seven blocked shots.
Ty Armstrong led the charge for the Pioneers (23-5, 18-3) with a game-high 33 points and added four rebounds.
Charleston 98, West Virginia State 75 | Final Stats
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston held its lead the entire game on its way to a 98-75 victory over West Virginia State, Saturday.
The Golden Eagles improve to, 22-6, 17-5 MEC, while the Yellow Jackets drop to 9-19, 7-15 MEC.
UC outrebounded WVSU 45-32, while Charleston shot 49 percent from the field (35-of-71) and the Yellow Jackets shot 40 percent (26-of-65).
Charleston was led by Anna Hayton who notched 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Erykah Russell poured in 21 points and dished out five assists for the Golden Eagles.
Destiny Fields led the way for WVSU with 16 points and three steals.
Notre Dame 90, Urbana 79 | Final Stats
URBANA, Ohio -- Notre Dame’s Jada Marone scored 35 points as the Falcons defeated Urbana 90-79, Saturday.
Each team shot 45 percent from the field, but Notre Dame (24-4, 18-4) shot 34 percent from three (8-of-23) as Urbana shot 26 percent (5-of-19).
Marone paced the Falcons with her 25 points, five steals and five assists, while Seina Adachi added 14 points and five rebounds.
Urbana (17-11, 13-9) was led by Tyra James with 29 points 14 rebounds and five assists.
West Liberty 81, Wheeling 73 | Final Stats
WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. -- West Liberty University defeated Wheeling University 81-73, Saturday afternoon.
West Liberty (12-16, 8-14) shot 45 percent (27-of-59) from the field, while Wheeling shot 38 percent (26-of-67). The Hilltoppers were 9-of-21 from behind the arc (42 percent) as Wheeling was just 1-of-6 from beyond the arc (16 percent).
Morgan Brunner scored 17 points, while Taylor Johnson added 16 points for WLU. Audrey Tingle posted a double-double for the Hilltoppers with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Lilly Ritz led the way for the Cardinals (10-18, 9-13) with 26 points and 17 rebounds.
West Virginia Wesleyan 74, Davis & Elkins 71 | Final Stats
BUCKHANNON, W.Va. - West Virginia Wesleyan connected on its free-throws down the stretch to secure the 74-71 win over Davis & Elkins, Saturday.
In the final 16 seconds of the game, WVWC (4-24, 2-20) connected on four free throws to hold off the Senators. Davis & Elkins had its chance as it was down 74-71 in the final seconds and attempted a three-pointer that fell just short.
Cierra Tolbert paced the Bobcats with a double-double consisting of 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Nicole Gilyard added 14 points and seven rebounds.
Davis & Elkins’ (7-21, 6-16) Jamiyah Johnson posted a 20-20 game with 26 points and 21 rebounds.
