BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- West Liberty’s Chase Morgan and UNC-Pembroke’s Nick Kee have been named the Mountain East Conference Wrestlers of the Week for their performance on the mat this past week.
Morgan, a sophomore from Ripley, W.Va., outdueled No. 8 Alonzo Turner of Notre Dame 8-7 on Friday in South Euclid. Morgan then earned a 9-3 win against Urbana’s Jake Lees on Sunday at home. West Liberty defeated Urbana 39-8.
Kee, a senior from Laurinburg, N.C., won all four of his matches at the Kutztown Duals to help guide the Braves to a 3-1 record over the weekend. Kee won three matches by major decision and logged a pin over Pitt-Johnstown’s Tyler Oliver.
Other Top Performances
Hunter Bray (NDC) helped guide the Falcons to a win over West Liberty, pinned Tommy Curtin late in the first round at 133 pounds… Connor Dixon (UU) won both matches at WLU. He won 11-8 at 197 pounds against Fairmont and 8-4 at 184 pounds versus Urbana… Devan Hamrick (FAIR) won all four matches last week wrestling at 149 for three wins and at 157 for one dual… Noah Tarr (D&E) went 3-1 at the Kutztown Duals over the weekend with a fall win over Connor Rogovich of No.19 ranked Kutztown.
