CHARLESTON, W.Va. – An explosive first quarter from Seina Adachi launched Notre Dame College to a 31-16 lead after 10 minutes of play at the University of Charleston. The Golden Eagles battled back, but NDC held on to win 79-76 and improve to 15-1 (9-1 MEC).
The game was jump-started by the senior guard who scored 22 points in the opening quarter, making eight of her 10 attempts, including six three-pointers.
Charleston won the second quarter 19-8 and the third 26-21 to take a one-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
In the fourth quarter, down by one, the Falcons went back and forth with the home team. Katie Karalic scored the first basket of the quarter with a layup, but Charleston came back two possessions later with two points of its own. Then Jen Oduho scored two points with a field goal and two free throws, but UC hit a three to tie things up.
Notre Dame opened things up at the midpoint of the fourth with back-to-back makes to widen the margin to four points in favor of the Falcons. The Golden Eagles then scored three before NDC went on a 6-0 run with free throws by Adachi and two baskets in the paint from Karalic and Jada Marone. Notre Dame made free throws at the end of the game to secure their win and defended well to keep UC from sending it into overtime.
Adachi ended the game with 39 points and nine boards.
Jen Oduho made four of her six field goal attempts and both free throws for 10 points. Jessie Stout was second in the team in both rebounds (seven) and assists (two). Theresa Parr had a team-high four assists, two steals and one block.
Brooklyn Pannell paced Charleston (12-4, 7-3) with 22 points in the setback. Anna Hayton netted 15 points and 11 rebounds followed by Trinity Palacio with 10 points for the Golden Eagles. Dakota Revves also had 15 points in the loss.
Fairmont State 71, Wheeling 66 | Box Score

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Four players reached double-figures as Fairmont State held off Wheeling University for a 71-66 victory on Saturday afternoon at Dan Cava Court inside Joe Retton Arena.
With the victory, Fairmont State improves to 9-7 overall and 6-4 in league play. WU falls to 5-11 overall and 4-6 in Mountain East Conference play.
Fairmont State led by as many as 18 points at the 3:47 mark of the third quarter, and entered the fourth quarter with a 61-45 lead before the Cardinals pulled to within three points with just over a minute remaining. Wheeling outscored Fairmont State 21-10 in the fourth quarter, but Brooke Kurucz scored a layup and dropped in a pair of free throws in the final minute to help the Falcons hold on for the win.
Kurucz finished the afternoon with 16 points and four rebounds.
Joining Kurucz in double-figures were Rachel Laskody with 13 points and nine rebounds, Sierra Kotchman with 11 points and seven rebounds, and Kamrin Weimer with 10 points and six rebounds. The Falcons also got nine points from Presley Tuttle off the bench.
Fairmont State shot just 39 percent from the floor, but did finish the afternoon with eight 3-pointers and a 17-of-20 performance from the charity stripe. The Falcons also outrebounded Wheeling by a 44-36 margin.
Wheeling finished the afternoon shooting nearly 41 percent from the floor, but connected on just 2-of-10 attempts from behind the arc.
Lilly Ritz paced the Cardinals with 35 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Khira Burton also chipped in eight points and five assists.
Wheeling held a 46-20 advantage scoring in the paint.
West Liberty 67, Frostburg State 55 | Box Score
WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Frostburg State outscored West Liberty in the first and third quarters but West Liberty scored 13 of the game's last 16 points to outlast the Bobcats on Saturday afternoon at the ASRC. The Hilltoppers held the Bobcats to one field goal over the last 5:17 of play.
Arianna Briggs-Hall scored 11 points and had 11 rebounds (six offensive, five defensive) with four assists for Frostburg State (2-14, 1-9). Amanda Emory paced the Bobcats with 18 points and 10 rebounds (two offensive, eight defensive) in the setback. Frostburg State shot 36% from the floor in the loss.
Olivia Belknap paced West Liberty (7-9, 3-7) with 16 points in the win. Morgan Brunner followed with 14 points and four boards while Taylor Johnson netted 12 and tallied six rebounds (one offensive, five defensive). Audrey Tingle had a team-high eight rebounds (one offensive, seven defensive) for the Hilltoppers. West Liberty shot 33% from the floor over the course of the contest.
Concord 82, Davis & Elkins 47 | Box Score
ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord held Davis & Elkins to 13 points in the second half to run away with an 82-47 win on Saturday. The Mountain Lions held a 39-34 lead at halftime and scored 14 unanswered points to pull away 53-34 by the 4:15 mark of the third quarter; putting the game out of reach.
Five player scored double-digit points in the win for Concord (11-4, 8-2). Madison May had 19 points and seven rebounds. Riley Fitzwater netted 18 in the win with 15 rebounds (two offensive, 13 defensive). Jazz Blankenship followed with 12 points with Maggie Guynn and Gracie Robinson each added 10 points for the Mountain Lions. Concord shot 53% from the floor in the win.
Jamiyah Johnson paced Davis & Elkins (2-13, 2-8) with 14 points and 13 rebounds in the setback (six offensive, seven defensive). Sydney Nestor added nine points and four boards in the loss.
West Virginia State 115, Urbana 80 | Box Score
INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State opened the game with a 24-8 run and never looked back on its way to a 115-80 win over Urbana on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Knights trailed 37-16 by the end of the first quarter and surrendered 45 points of off 31 turnovers over the course of the contest.
Destiny Fields poured in 25 points with seven rebounds for West Virginia State (7-9, 5-5). Charity Shears chipped in 21 points in the win followed by Sierra Womack and Chloe Cheresne with 14 points and 10 points, respectively. The Yellow Jackets' bench accounted for 55 points in the victory.
Sylvia Hudson paced the Blue Knights (10-6, 6-4) with 20 points and eight rebounds. Tyra James netted 18 points in the setback while Weston Minnich tallied nine points and seven boards for Urbana.
Glenville State 124, West Virginia Wesleyan 75 | Box Score
GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State turned 31 West Virginia Wesleyan turnovers into 50 points in a 124-75 win on Saturday afternoon.
Zakiyah Winfield shot 83% from the floor for the Pioneers with 26 points, five assists and two steals. Re'Shawna Stone and Emily Stoller each netted 22 points for Glenville State (12-4, 8-2) followed by Mashayla Cecil with 11.
Nicole Gilyard led the effort for West Virginia Wesleyan (3-13, 1-9) with 22 points and 13 rebounds (four offensive, nine defensive). Cierra Tolbert followed with 20 points in the loss.
